KKR make a winning start, SRK likes that, a single towards midwicket for the single that confirmed the result
Daredevils vs KKR, 1st match at Kolkata, IPL, Apr 03 2013 - Match Result
KKR won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
Going in with four quicks on this track wasn't the wisest move from Delhi. Not the most thrilling of opening games from the IPL, Kolkata was never really under pressure in the chase.
Eoin Morgan: "Delighted to get start, glad to be back in the team and off to a great start. We talked about early wickets before the game, Sunil Narine is an outstanding player, on this wicket it is difficult to put him away, builds pressure and takes wickets. The momentum is with us, and long may it continue."
Shah Rukh Khan going on a victory lap at Eden Gardens. Deepika Padukone and SRK racing around the boundary.
Anoop: "KKR has gone CSK way by preparing pitches that helps spinners. They have a couple of quite handy spinners too. Will be interesting to watch."
Presentation ceremony:
Gambhir: "Restricting the opposition to 128 was a fantastic effort. We are a very good fielding side as well. I still feel Balaji did a very good job, so did Binga.. overall everyone did a very good job. 150 was a good total, but we wanted to be positive when we started the chase. Points on the table is always very satisfying."
Jayawardene: "When we started batting, we realised it was a very slow wicket. We knew 145 would be a very good total, but we kept losing wickets, and Sunil bowled very well too. Quite happy with the way the boys played, it is a different combination for Delhi this season, it will take a while to get going."
Man of the Match is Sunil Narine: "It assists the spinners a lot, everyone played their part. Lit more turn and bounce than last year. I think I was on top of Russell today, but you never know what can happen."
That's a wrap from our coverage for today. Read Siddhartha Talya's match wrap here. And there's be more later in the day/night. Right, I'm off then. Just 75 more matches this season.
opens the face to guide that fine past short third man, scores are level, "KKR, KKR," the crowd chants
HR: "Spotted: A girl jumping out of her seat in joy after Yusuf Pathan's six... It was 'cauz she saw ShahRukh on the screen"
looks to chop that one through the off side, bottom edges it and that misses the stumps and goes past the keeper
length ball just outside off, defended, 'well bowled, well bowled, johan,' shouts the keeper
on the pads and that is down towards fine leg, 12 off the over, and Delhi will be wondering why they didn't pick Jeevan Mendis on this pitch which is helping the spinners so much
low full toss on off stump, pushed towards cover
short of length ball on off stump, Yusuf shuffles across and tucks that behind square leg for a couple
swivels as he pulls that short ball towards deep square leg
a ripping delivery from Russell, leaps up at Yusuf who manages to tap it towards point for a single
a huge hit, Yusuf swings the bat cleanly, and connects well, that isn't off the middle of the bat but still has enough to clear the rope, the long-on and long-off fielders were briefly interested but that was too far for them
off the pads towards square leg for two more
short of length ball on middle, clipped towards deep square leg for a quick couple
down the leg side, a free run for Kolkata
whipped towards deep midwicket for a single
short of length and just outside off, pulled towards deep square leg for a single
Only one over of spin - from Botha- left for Delhi
Umesh is back and Yusuf goes for the pull, bottom-edges it to the off side
dhruva sends in a way for geeks to spend the strategic time-out : "calculate the binomial probability that DD wins from here: n= 29, x= 6( the number of wickets) and p= 0.5"
bhaskar: "Gambhir must be muttering "Don't take it to the last over""
full and on off stump, eased towards long-on for a single
Morgan looks to powerfully pull that, horribly mistimed, the ball rolls to the right of the bowler for a single
short of length ball on leg stump, pushed towards midwicket by Morgan
