Silk should have been run-out but he misses the throw at the bowler's end! Sixers sneak home with five balls and seven wickets to spare. Webster bowled it full in line of the stumps, Silk charged down and hit it straight to short mid-on and took off. Some way to win a contest.
Stars vs Sixers, 15th Match at Sydney, BBL, Dec 26 2022 - Match Result
Sixers won by 7 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
9:15pm Little moments. Zampa deceives Henriques in flight after luring him out. The keeper misses. Henriques, who at that point was struggling to get going, then turns it around with a half-century. Ensures that he sees off the win. Little moments.
It had got to a point where Power Surge had to decide the flow of the game. Zampa, as captain, was in mood for some adventure as he brought himself on in that phase for the first time this season. Couldn't get the desired result. Silk and Henriques showed how tough a track it was to bat on. But then they hung on. And they did that to the close, which ended in heartbreak for Stars.
Webster had earlier played a stellar knock to help Stars to 150, a total that seemingly was tough due to the nature of the surface. He also chipped in with his handy medium pace, snaffling Patterson. But he couldn't end on the winning side. Sixers now move to fifth while Stars stay on seventh.
Right then, that's all I and Abhimanyu have from this game. Do jump over as Strikers and Scorchers clash in Perth. Till the next time, take care!
Webster. One to win.
Banged short and angling away, Silk moves to the off side and looks to pull. Gets a top edge towards the vacant square leg region. Scores level.
Full and just outside off, hit towards long-on. Henriques always wanted a two and he was charging to the danger end.
Yorker outside off, digs it out towards point for one.
Up, up and away! Is that the killer blow? Length ball on middle and leg, Henriques is deep in his crease as he moves to the off side. Flicks it high and long over deep backward square leg. Half-century up in style.
Full on leg, Silk flicks it to fine leg.
Length ball outside off, thrashed through cover-point for two.
Boult for the penultimate.
Valiant effort in vain from Cartwright. Length ball, Henriques heaves it towards the on side, where deep square leg and deep midwicket converge. Cartwright puts in the dive from deep midwicket but cannot prevent the four.
Length ball, heaved away through the on side.
Short in length, pulls it to deep backward square leg.
Oh no! Poor fielding in the deep at square leg allows them an extra run, Hatcher the fielder. He over-runs it, then regathers himself and prevents the boundary.
Length ball outside leg, Silk makes room but is hit on the body.
24 off 18 needed. Who do Stars turn to? Wood it is. Boult should bowl the penultimate, you'd think.
Full and outside off, driven straight to Zampa at covers, takes him on for a quick run.
Fine leg goes back now.
Scoop-flicks it for six! Ho, ho, ho! It is full and wide again, just inside the tramline. Henriques moves across quickly and gets it well over where fine leg would have stood.
A change of batter on strike forces a chat between the bowler and captain.
Low full toss outside off, worked away to deep midwicket again. Just one this time.
Full and just outside off, wristed away to deep midwicket. The pressure by the batters results in the fielder not picking it up on the first go and concedes a second. Tom Rogers the man.
Very full and outside off, just inside the tramline. Silk looks to dig it out but it passes past the inside edge.
On a length outside off, it was wide as well. Silk fails to make contact there.
Hatcher for his last.
Sixers scored 19 off the Power Surge. Stars had managed 24.
Another length ball on leg, heaves it to long-on.
