Hurricanes stay alive! Oh my word! This is as close to a cricketing miracle as any! Another brilliant yorker at the stumps and Bazley can't get under it. He can only skew it off the toe-end into the on side and pick up a single. The Hurricanes are over the moon; Brisbane Heat, not quite. They have let go of a very winning position, and this keeps the Hurricanes well and truly in the qualification mix!
Hurricanes vs Heat, 55th Match at Launceston, BBL, Jan 25 2023 - Match Result
5:08pm Right. That will be a wrap from us for this game. But in a couple of hours' time, the Sydney Thunder will be taking on the Melbourne Stars in a game that will decide how the top five looks at the end of the group stage. Make sure you join us for that defining contest. Until next time, this is me (Shashwat) signing off on behalf of Chandan and Raghav. Goodbye, and take care!
5:02pm Phew, I might need a few moments to catch my breath. For much of the second half of the run-chase, the Brisbane Heat seemed in control. Peirson was calling the shots and Hain was doing his bit at the other end. But once the pair departed in quick succession, chaos descended and they were left searching for 10 runs off the final over. With the Power Surge on, singles were not on offer either, and the pressure told in the end as Bazley only managed to get a solitary boundary away in the final over, which was expertly bowled by David.
The result means that the Hurricanes are still alive in the tournament, although they still require the Melbourne Stars to do them a favour. To their credit, they have held up their end of the bargain and have done so by producing a superb bowling display. They kept chipping away, kept themselves in the game and when it mattered, held their nerve a lot better than the Brisbane Heat.
