With the win tonight, the Heat have actually kept alive a theoretical chance to progress. They have to win their remaining matches, hope that the Melbourne Stars lose their remaining matches and also need some other results to go their way.

Lynn: Can't really put a finger on it, know we can't progress but good to have a win. The guys were exceptional with the ball, especially Kuhnemann, on debut, bowling in the powerplay. I wanted to make sure we didn't make the same mistake as we did a week ago in Melbourne.

10.35pm And the Heat manage to keep their noses ahead of the Scorchers in the battle of the backbenchers with an emphatic six wicket win. Furthermore, they give something to the home crowd to cheer about with their first win at the Gabba this season. Chris Lynn led the way with some monstrous hits over the fence but was largely measured in the way he went about the chase, holding fort as the others batted around him.

dez: "I full agree that BBL08 has been mediocre. However i don't get why people are talking about it being too long - IPL 2018 was 50 days long, BBL08 is 60, which whilst it's 10 days longer that includes days off for Christmas day & during Australian ODI's/Tests!!"
