Angus Robson, younger brother of the Middlesex and England opener Sam, took the first steps towards emulating his achievements when he was given a full-time contract with Leicestershire. He made three Championship appearances at the end of Leicestershire's wooden spoon season in 2013, narrowly missing a maiden half-century when he made 49 against Gloucestershire in Bristol. Better followed in two more bottom-placed Championship finishes in 2014 and 2015 as he twice passed 1,000 runs, his most eye-catching feat being a century against the Indian tourists.
Born in New South Wales but holding a British passport, Robson made centuries in three-day fixtures against Gloucestershire and Nottinghamshire and hit 98 in a Second XI Trophy game against Northamptonshire. His father, Jim, played for Worcestershire's seconds in 1979.
