A 6ft 7ins seam bowler who naturally got good bounce, and had the ability to swing the ball both ways, Alex Wyatt had a six-year career that was affected by periodic bouts of back trouble. He first drew attention to himself in his second first-class game, against the West Indies, when he dismissed Ramnaresh Sarwan -- later to become his county captain -- and, in the final match of 2011, he also dismissed the then England captain, Andrew Strauss. On his Twenty20 debut against Durham in 2009 he took 3-14, dismissing Paul Collingwood and Michael di Venuto. There were few successes for Leicestershire in 2013 as they failed to win a single first-class match for the first time in their history, but Wyatt acquitted himself more reliably than most with 24 wickets. Two more bottom-place finishes in Division Two followed and Wyatt fell victim to a clearout in 2015 after spending the entire season in the 2nd XI.
