The Leyland Motors ground, which is closer to Ham than Kingston, staged two first-class matches in 1946 to generate funds to help in the post-war restoration of The Oval, and such was the success that festival matches continued to be played until 1953. In that year the Australians rattled up 592 for 4 against Combined Universities, Keith Miller making 262 not out. The factory was demolished in the early 1990s and sold for housing, although a cricket pitch and sports centre remain, known as the Hawker Centre.
