Again the biggest volume - eclipsing the 1926 Almanack by 12 pages - and "cause for much thankfulness" as England ended their poor run against Australia with victory at The Oval, the only positive result in the five-match 1926 series. The stream of draws meant that this was the last time that Ashes Tests in England were played over three days. In an echo of an argument that was to follow some 70 years later, the editor warned that the increasing number of overseas tours was putting too much strain on leading players, especially bowlers.
