India v Australia, 2013-14

At Ranchi, October 23, 2013 (day/night). No result. Toss: India.
Dhoni, winning the toss for the first time in the series, and on his home ground, said he fielded first because of a forecast promising unseasonal rain. The first shower arrived in the eighth over, though it did not prevent Australia from completing a full innings. India's decision to shake up their seam attack paid off as Mohammed Shami found pace and inward movement to bowl Finch and Watson, plus surprising bounce to have Hughes caught behind. Bailey nicked Shami first ball, but Kohli put down the chance at slip - one of five drops by India - and he took full advantage in a restorative partnership of 153 with the predictably gung-ho Maxwell, whose 92 contained five sixes. Even so, Australia's 295 for eight was their lowest total of the series, and it would have been entirely in keeping with the prevailing trend had India bettered it. They didn't get the chance, as heavy rain caused a halt in the fifth over of their reply.
