South Africa v Pakistan, 2012-13

At Benoni, March 24, 2013. South Africa won by six wickets. Toss: Pakistan.
One of South Africa's most dilapidated first-class grounds was an odd choice of venue for what became the decider, and the contest was equally disappointing. After Steyn took his 100th wicket in one-day internationals, Kamran Akmal's selectively aggressive 48 repaired the early damage; then the middle order ensured a platform for what promised to be a competitive target on a two-paced pitch. But Shahid Afridi slogged his third ball straight to deep square leg, opening the door for McLaren and Morkel to reduce Pakistan to 189 for nine - though Junaid Khan's cheerful swinging at least pushed the total beyond 200. The surface slowed during the chase, persuading Amla to dig in. His 65-ball vigil ended when he changed tactics and top-edged a hook, and at 83 for three Pakistan sniffed an upset. But de Villiers continued his astonishing form, and his unbeaten 95 took his series tally to 367 at an average of 91. As in the Tests, he won the series award.
Man of the Match: A. B. de Villiers. Man of the Series: A. B. de Villiers.
