England dominated proceedings in front of a crowd of almost 24,000, who lapped up the spectacle in perfect weather and saw the tourists adapt skilfully to the ground's peculiar layout. Even without the rested Kevin Pietersen, England still had the firepower to clear the ropes 15 times to New Zealand's eight, taking toll of Eden Park's temptingly short straight boundaries. That differential accounted almost exactly for the winning margin, after England - boosted by a fourth-wicket stand of 81 in 43 balls between Morgan and Bairstow - had piled up their best Twenty20 total. New Zealand dropped five catches under troublesome low lights, with Taylor missing two on his return to international cricket. Broad then made sure with career-best Twenty20 figures as England bowled back of a length, successfully forcing the New Zealand batsmen to aim for the less reachable square boundaries. Match awards were not made at any stage of the tour.
