Sri Lanka v New Zealand, 2012-13

At Hambantota, November 12, 2012 (day/night). No result. Toss: NewZealand.One-day international debut: A. Dananjaya.

Yet more rain returned to deny New Zealand a probable consolation victory. They had decided to bowl first under sunny skies, which darkened after Southee took two quick wickets, and Boult removed Mathews for a duck. Sri Lanka stumbled to 123 for eight, with only Tharanga - whose 60 consumed 94 balls - putting up much resistance against the seamers. But that was it: rain forced the players off and, although a restart was mooted for 8.30pm, another downpour ended the game just as the covers were being removed. Offspinner Akila Dananjaya, who had already played for Sri Lanka in the World Twenty20 made his List A debut here.

Man of the Series: B-J. Watling.
