West Indies v Australia, 2011-12

At Arnos Vale, St Vincent, March 20, 2012. Tied. Toss: Australia.

The uproar from the packed stands was deafening when Sammy blasted Lee's third ball of the final over to the long-on boundary to bring the scores level. It was followed by stunned silence as Sammy squeezed the next delivery, a yorker, to point, and last man Roach, eager for the winning run, charged down the pitch. He and his captain were next to each other when Lee calmly gathered Bailey's throw to seal the tie. Free scoring had again proved difficult, yet Australia were well-placed at 170 for three in the 40th over. Then Samuels accounted for Bailey and Hussey after a patient stand of 112; Roach, Narine and a run-out did the rest, as the last six wickets tumbled for 18. However, in spite of 45 from the St Lucian Johnson Charles, West Indies were floundering at 78 for five before the later batsmen took them agonisingly close to victory. When Russell had 31, he was bowled by Watson - but the TV replay showed he had overstepped. Thus granted a free hit, Russell was bowled by the next ball too.

Man of the Match: M. E. K. Hussey.
