Middlesex v West Indians

England v West Indies, 2012

At Lord's, June 13. West Indians won by 228 runs. West Indians 335-4 (50 overs) (D. M. Bravo 112*, D. R. Smith 96); ‡Middlesex 107 (31 overs).

The West Indians massacred Middlesex in their only win of the tour. In his first game for the side since the 2011 World Cup, Gayle hit 34 in 30 balls, with a couple of sixes off Tim Murtagh. But the heart of the innings was a stand of 156 between Darren Bravo and Dwayne Smith, who struck one of his two sixes into the pavilion's top tier; Smith just missed his hundred, Bravo got there in the final over. By then he had been joined by his half-brother, Dwayne, whose 40 came in 21 balls; together they smashed 42 off the last two overs. Middlesex, one man short after Robbie Williams fractured his collarbone in the field, had no answer; no one passed 24, and Gayle ended the game with a double-wicket maiden.
