Tour Match

West Indies v New Zealand, 2012

Tony Cozier

At North Sound, Antigua, July 20-22, 2012. Drawn.

There was an unusual intensity to this warm-up game, played on a strip close to the Test wicket, and featuring six of West Indies' Test squad plus their reserve spinner, Shillingford. Williamson ground out 55 in close to four hours as the tourists struggled in overcast conditions; Deonarine found run-scoring easier in his 115-ball hundred. Neil Wagner, making his first senior appearance for New Zealand, swung the ball at pace, and clung on for 59 minutes alongside another native South African, Kruger van Wyk (38 not out), to save the match.
