Bangladesh v Australia in Bangladesh, 2010-11

At Mirpur, April 11, 2011. Australia won by nine wickets. Toss: Bangladesh.

A middling Bangladesh total was made to look puny by Watson, who pummelled a record 15 sixes in charging to 185 not out, the highest score by an Australian in one-day internationals. So monstrous was Watson's treatment of the bowlers, particularly the left-arm spin that arced neatly into his favoured hitting zone between long-on and midwicket, that he scored nearly 80% of Australia's runs. Watson started with three successive fours in the first over, from Shafiul Islam, and his later onslaught included four leg-side sixes in a row during an over from slow left-armer Suhrawadi Shuvo which cost 27. The series was secured with 144 balls to spare, although Clarke had not been entirely satisfied at the change of innings after Bangladesh wriggled from 88 for five to reach 229. The recovery was led by Mushfiqur Rahim's impish undefeated 81 as 59 runs came from the final five overs. Hastings was tidy and perhaps underbowled, while Smith produced one ripping leg-break to gate the left-handed Shakib Al Hasan, probably his best ball yet for Australia.
