A plunge of 30°C from Barbados, where their World Twenty20 campaign ended on May 5, did not prevent Bangladesh gaining useful practice against some county youngsters. England Under-19 seamer Matt Dunn - a product of Surrey's academy, like fellow debutant Tom Lancefield - made the most of sloppy batting late on, but the tourists declared overnight, 54 ahead. While helicopters circled over Downing Street, which David Cameron finally occupied on the third evening, Evans made his case for a premier post in a right-left coalition with Afzaal worth 225, but was deprived of a century when Mahmudullah tipped a drive on to the non-striker's stumps. Afzaal remained to bat out the match.
