England v Bangladesh, Headingley

ESPNcricinfo staff

At Leeds, June 26. England won by five wickets. England 6 pts. Toss: Bangladesh.

England ended Bangladesh's interest in the tournament with a comfortable win. Nevertheless, they had several shoddy moments in the field, and Simon Jones, replacing the rested Harmison after regaining fitness, started his comeback with four successive leg-side wides. Flintoff restored order with four wickets, including two in two balls as Mohammad Ashraful's brilliant run came to an end with a smart catch by Trescothick at short mid-wicket and a first-ball duck. Javed Omar, dropped on 19 by Flintoff in the slips, made a painstaking 81 lasting 46 overs, his caution understandable given what was happening around him. Strauss all but saw England to victory. He levelled the scores with a six off left-arm spinner Manjural Islam Rana, whose next delivery bowled him as he tried to slog another boundary for his hundred. A wide four balls later settled the game.

Man of the Match: A. J. Strauss.
