Final

India v South Africa

At Dhaka, April 21, 2003 (day/night). No result. Toss: India.

If rain had cost India victory in their last rained-off final, during the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, plenty of South Africans would say it saved them here. Ntini's bowling was nasty, brutish and short, with Pollock slower and on the spot. India were staggering at 46 for three in the 18th over when torrents sent the players scuttling. This second interruption - winds strong enough to whip off the umpires' hats had already brought a halt - proved terminal. The downpour ended in late afternoon but the outfield was already saturated.

Man of the Series: A. C. Dawson.
