Third One-Day International

Kenya v Zimbabwe

At Sharjah, April 5, 2003 (day/night). Zimbabwe won by five wickets. Zimbabwe 5 pts, Kenya 1 pt. Toss: Kenya.

Zimbabwe, humiliated by Kenya in their recent World Cup match, appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win as Marillier, who hit a maiden one-day international hundred, and Flower added 130. Together, they took Zimbabwe within 28. But the loss of both - and Blignaut - inside three overs set up a closer-than-expected finish. The captain, Streak, hit 14 off six balls to make sure. Earlier, David Obuya had reached his first fifty in one-day internationals as Streak juggled an eight-man attack. However, Kenya could make only 56 from their final ten overs: a little more might have made a big difference.

Man of the Match: D. A. Marillier.
