Kenya suffered a serious blow when their captain and top batsman, Steve Tikolo, had to withdraw with bronchitis. They still chose to bat, and Patel played some impressive strokes, including three fours in an over from Hondo. Modi shared good partnerships with Patel and acting-captain Odoyo, but Kenya's total seemed insufficient. Campbell ran himself out before rain drove the players off; they returned briefly, but a thunderstorm prevented further progress.
