Second One-Day International

Zimbabwe v Pakistan

At Bulawayo, November 24, 2002. Pakistan won by 104 runs (D/L method). Toss: Pakistan. One-day international debut: W. Mwayenga.

After their scare the previous day, Pakistan raised their sights. Some thrilling batting brought them the second-highest one-day total conceded by Zimbabwe - now missing all of their four top pace bowlers after Blignaut injured his leg. Taufeeq Umar and Salim Elahi opened with 159 in 32 overs, but the highlight was a stunning unbeaten 76 off just 34 balls by Yousuf Youhana, unfurling strokes of incredible daring; his fifty took only 23 balls and altogether he hit three fours and eight sixes. Zimbabwe crumbled to 20 for four in Wasim Akram's new-ball spell, but Taibu exuded defiance, and Ervine battered 61 not out in 41 balls before rain ended the match, and Duckworth/Lewis set a retrospective target of 245 in 33 overs.

Man of the Match: Salim Elahi.
