The editor welcomed the return of first-class cricket, but presciently warned that the experiment with two-day games would be "a sad blunder". In Punch an article was published calling for left-hand batsmen to be banned, a notion ridiculed in the editorial. The Five Cricketers of the Year again came from the public schools, and included the future England captain Percy Chapman of Uppingham. The price of the Almanack rose for the second successive year.
