Second One-Day International

New Zealand v West Indies 1999-2000

At Taupo, January 4 (day/night). New Zealand won by seven wickets. Toss: New Zealand.

Vettori's best return in one-day internationals, four for 24, was a key factor in restricting West Indies to 192 after rain reduced the match to a 43-over affair. Cairns also played a leading part with two early wickets in a fine opening spell - he removed Campbell with the first ball of the game - and a hard-hitting unbeaten 27 later on. Astle, with 32 off 25 balls, gave New Zealand a flier as 56 came off the first eight overs. Fleming ensured the good start was not wasted with 59 not out.

Man of the Match: D. L. Vettori.
