Third Test

South Africa v England 1895-96

In the third Test match the South Africans did no better than in the previous engagements. Winning the toss, Lord Hawke put his opponents in, and the policy was attended with complete success, the Englishmen gaining a single innings victory with 33 runs to spare. Hill's innings was a splendid one, and created a great impression, while the Hampshire amateur bowled with remarkable success in the second innings.
