Sixth Test Match

Pakistan v India 1982-83

At Karachi, January 30, 31, February 1, 3, 4. Drawn. Crowd demonstrations, thought to have been promted by students protesting against arrests made at a University campus brawl, and high scores made this a typical Karachi Test. The fourth day's play had to be abandoned after lunch, because of the rioting. In completing his sixth Test century Mudassar passed 2,000 runs for Pakistan, and Wasim Bari became only the fourth wicket-keeper to claim 200 Test victims. For India Amarnath made his fifth Test hundred and his third of the series, reached in 238 minutes in the last hour of the last day. He and Kirmani also reached 2,000 Test runs. Shastri's maiden century for India, which he scored as a stop-gap opener, was an outstanding achievement.
