India v ZImbabwe

At Guwahati, March 19. India won by 101 runs. Toss: India.

After a two-minute silence for the former Test keeper Narendra Tamhane, who had just died, India shrugged off their earlier complacency to take the series in style. Again, they looked like throwing it away, at 157 for four in the 31st over. But Mongia held on to score his maiden international hundred, a scintillating unbeaten 159 off 149 balls. His Punjab team-mate, Yuvraj Singh, was again on song, to the tune of 75 in 52 balls; together, they added 158 in 18 overs, and the last ten of the innings yielded an amazing 121 runs. Zimbabwe were left with a mammoth target of 334 in only 48 overs - two were docked for a slow over-rate. They wilted under the pressure, losing their last five wickets in 16 balls.

Man of the Match: D. Mongia.
Man of the Series: D. Mongia.
