Second One-Day International

India v Pakistan

At Toronto, September 14. India won by seven wickets. Toss: Pakistan.

India's emphatic victory was overshadowed by the fracas in which Inzamam-ul-Haq accosted a spectator who had been taunting him using a megaphone. Play was held up for 35 minutes and referee Jackie Hendriks suspended Inzamam for two matches. Assault charges against Inzamam and the spectator, Shiva Kumar Thind, were subsequently dropped. India bowled superbly and fielded impeccably in helpful conditions to dismiss Pakistan for 116. Mohanty removed the first three wickets and conceded just 15 from seven overs. The two Singhs and Ganguly ensured there was no recovery, in spite of Salim Malik's cultured 36. Ganguly then led the cruise to victory.

Man of the Match: S. C. Ganguly.
