Pakistan v Sri Lanka

At Vishakhapatnam, March 27. Sri Lanka won by 12 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka.

Pakistan slipped up after two victories. In stifling conditions, Azhar Mahmood had Sri Lanka looking shaky at 86 for four. But Jayawardene survived four chances - and started walking when caught behind off Wasim Akram, until he realised umpire Sharma had called no-ball - to lead them towards 253. Pakistan's innings was docked two overs because of a slow over-rate. They were missing Saeed Anwar, their leading scorer, who had an eye inflammation, and were in deep trouble after Wickremasinghe took a wicket in each of his first three overs. They still got close: Wasim hit 79 off 60 balls before the last three wickets tumbled, leaving them just short.

Man of the Match: D. P. M. D. Jayawardene.
