India v Pakistan

At Jaipur, March 24. Pakistan won by 143 runs. Toss: Pakistan. International debut: G. K. Pandey.

India succumbed to their heaviest-ever defeat in a home one-day international when they were bowled out for 135 in the 37th over. Saeed Anwar had given Pakistan a dream start, passing 6,000 runs and falling just short of his 16th hundred in limited-overs internationals. Kumble suffered the indignity of being hit by Shahid Afridi for five fours in his opening over, but took revenge, dismissing Afridi and three others to check the middle order. However, only Jadeja passed 20 in India's reply, which mustered less than half Pakistan's total. Shoaib Akhtar struck the early blows, though the honours were shared out among his colleagues.

Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
