India v Sri Lanka

At Nagpur, March 22. India won by 80 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka. International debuts: L. R. Shukla; H. Boteju.

Ganguly dominated from start to finish, batting throughout India's innings for his first one-day international century on home soil and then wrapping up the game when he dismissed four Sri Lankans in as many overs. He was only the fourth player to combine a hundred with four wickets in a one-day international. Ganguly hit five fours and two sixes in 160 balls, adding 236, an Indian second-wicket record, with Dravid, who scored a more rapid 116 in 118. Agarkar ensured a bad beginning for Sri Lanka's run-chase with three quick wickets. Though they recovered briefly, Ganguly delivered the knockout with 12 overs to spare.

Man of the Match: S. C. Ganguly.
