Coca-Cola Champions Trophy 1998-99, final

India v Zimbabwe

At Sharjah, November 13 (day/night). India won by ten wickets. Toss: India.

India romped home with 20 overs and all ten wickets in hand in their 40th and last one-day international of 1998 (excluding two complete washouts). It was their 24th win, against 14 defeats and two no-results. Tendulkar had played in 34 of those games; here, he took his aggregate for the year to 1,894 runs with his ninth century. He scored 124 off 92 balls, with 12 fours and six sixes; Ganguly, who had an equal share of the strike, made what would normally have seemed a fine 63.

Tendulkar soon took his revenge on Olonga, a hero two nights earlier -- this time, he went for 50 in six overs. Zimbabwe's batting had also made little headway. Only a 58-run stand between Strang and Brandes saved them from ignominy.

Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar. Man of the Series: S. R. Tendulkar.
