Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe

At Sharjah, November 10 (day/night). Zimbabwe won by 24 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka's last faint chance of reaching the final - if Zimbabwe lost heavily the next day - vanished with their fourth successive defeat. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe's growing self-confidence saw them through. Their victory seemed unlikely when they were put in and collapsed to 24 for three. But some ordinary Sri Lankan bowling and fielding allowed Johnson and Andy Flower to fight back with 149 for the fourth wicket. Leg-spinner Strang then ripped the heart out of Sri Lanka's batting and a stand of 93 between Tillekeratne and Dharmasena came too late.

Man of the Match: P. A. Strang.
