Second One-Day International

South Africa v West Indies 1998-99

Toss: South Africa. International debut: H. S. Williams.

Numerous records were set as Chanderpaul (with a personal-best 150 off 136 balls) and Hooper (108 off 119) won the game with a stand of 226 - a West Indian all-wicket record and the highest for any wicket against South Africa. Pollock's excellent return of six for 35 was also a personal best; only Donald has returned better figures for South Africa in limited-overs internationals. South Africa never fully recovered from losing three wickets in the first six overs, although Boucher made a swift fifty, his first in one-day internationals.

Man of the Match: S. Chanderpaul. Attendance: 13,033.
