Singer Akai Cup, third qualifying match

PAKISTAN v ZIMBABWE

At Sharjah, April 6. Pakistan won by 93 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Zimbabwe got only halfway to their target, capitulating with 18 overs to spare. They were all out for 94, their lowest total in one-day internationals, after their openers had made a promising start with 39. Four were run out as the Pakistani bowlers tied the batsmen down. In contrast, Pakistan had started badly, with Matambanadzo removing two of the top three for a single apiece. But first Salim Malik, then Inzamam-ul-Haq, whose 46 was easily the highest score of the match, led the recovery. Though the innings fell away again, it was to prove far too much for Zimbabwe.

Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq.
