Pepsi Cup final

INDIA v SOUTH AFRICA

At Sharjah, April 19. South Africa won by 38 runs. Toss: South Africa.

South Africa completed a clean sweep to take the Cup. They had looked unconvincing in the early morning, while the Indians were swinging the ball, but Kirsten displayed excellent temperament and concentration, batting throughout the innings for his second century of the tournament and his fourth in limited-overs internationals in the past six months. Meanwhile, Symcox clubbed 61 off 49 balls - his maiden one-day fifty for South Africa - while McMillan hit three huge sixes, two of them out of the ground. India needed 5.76 an over, but they seemed to have a chance as long as Tendulkar was at the crease. The decisive factor was South Africa's athletic fielding. Tendulkar was stranded when Pollock made a fast pick-up at mid-off, the second of four run-outs which made India's task impossible.

Man of the Match: G. Kirsten. Man of the Series: G. Kirsten.
