The lovely Arnos Vale ground, by the blue Caribbean, brought out the best in the West Indians, who gained a convincing one-day win to secure the series. Again, a century from Lara played a decisive role, but this time Simmons matched him. Fleming and Germon, batting spiritedly at No. 3, rescued New Zealand from ten for two with a solid stand of 120. New Zealand hopes were high when West Indies were 31 for two, but then they were blown out of sight as Lara and Simmons put on 186 in 31 overs. Lara's second hundred of the series occupied 103 balls, and he hit ten fours and a six; Simmons followed him with 103 from 125 balls, ten fours and two sixes. His tenth four brought up his century and West Indies' victory with nine balls to spare.
