WEST INDIES v ZIMBABWE

At Hyderabad, February 16 (day/night). West Indies won by six wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe.

Lara returned to the West Indian team after refusing to join the trip to Australia and was quickly back in the limelight. He hit a six over mid-off to complete a comfortable victory with more than 20 overs to spare. Strang's leg-spin had troubled the West Indian batsmen, claiming all the four wickets that fell - three of them in seven balls - while he had Lara dropped in the slips by Campbell. But a good start from the openers ensured that West Indies would overtake a feeble target of 152 with ease. The Zimbabweans had been hesitant against the pace of Ambrose and his colleagues, with Grant Flower their most fluent player. Their three run-outs included one freakish dismissal - Whittall went when he tripped over the heel of Bishop, the bowler, who was watching the ball being fielded.

Man of the Match: C. E. L. Ambrose.
