SRI LANKA v WEST INDIES

At Calcutta, November 25 (day/night). West Indies won by seven wickets. Toss: West Indies.

West Indies reached the final in style, with 8.1 overs to spare. They had restricted Sri Lanka to a disappointing 188, a total which owed almost everything to De Silva and Kalpage. Joining forces at 77 for five, they added 109 in 19 overs; De Silva hit 38 from his last 18 balls. Though West Indies lost Haynes and Simmons for ducks, the left-handers Lara and Arthurton then combined in a stand of 163 to put the result beyond doubt.

Man of the Match: B. C. Lara.
