NEW ZEALAND v INDIA 1993-94

At Wellington, March 30. India won by 12 runs. Toss: New Zealand.

A target of 256 for New Zealand briefly looked attainable as Thomson and Parore put on 85 for the sixth wicket. Thomson reached 50 in 51 balls but Kumble had him stumped and bowled Parore, and 28 off the last two overs was too much for the tail. Earlier, Kumble removed both Harris - promoted to open after his fifty in Auckland - and Hartland, after they had put on 60 for the second wicket, and finished with five for 33. India's first wicket put on 105 at five an over, and the other batsmen kept up that rate. Tendulkar scored 63 form 75 balls, with nine fours, and Sidhu an unbeaten 71 from 78.

Man of the Match: A. Kumble.
