Benson & Hedges World Series Cup 1992-93, first final

AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES

Toss: West Indies.

Haynes and Lara laid the foundations for West Indies' highest total in the competition by scoring 90 in 19.4 overs. The final momentum came from Hooper and Logie, whose partnership yielded 57 off as many balls; Logie's busy 38 needed only 36 deliveries.

Ambrose dismissed both Australian openers in a fiery opening seven overs that became even hotter after Jones demanded that he remove his white wristbands. Australia were still in with a slight chance until Ambrose returned to take the last three wickets, bowling the dangerous Healy, who had hit 33 in 30 balls, with a slower ball.

Attendance: 37,581.
