At Sharjah, April 25. Sri Lanka won by three wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankans, having required 55 off the last five overs, won with four balls remaining, thanks to a spectacular unbeaten 85 off 77 balls by their captain, Ranatunga (three sixes, four fours). At 134 for six in the 36th over, his side's challenge was in the balance, but a seventh-wicket partnership of 69 from 66 balls with Ratnayake set up a final assault which produced 44 runs in twenty deliveries.
