At Delhi, October 23. West Indies won by 20 runs. Toss: India. An outstanding all-round display by their captain, Richards, restored West Indies' fortunes after a sequence of five defeats in one-day internationals. First, while adding 66 with Richardson, he struck 44 from 42 balls to ensure West Indies' recovery from an uncertain start. Later, after Lamba had put India in a strong position with 61 from 81 deliveries, Richards dismissed Shastri, Kapil Dev and More in the 38th over to reduce India from 158 for five to 160 for eight. Finally, he bowled Arshad Ayub to return his best figures in a one-day international.
