†INDIA v SRI LANKA 1986-87

At New Delhi, January 13. India won by six wickets. By deliberately slowing down the over-rate after Gurusinha (two sixes, three fours) and Ranatunga (three sixes, two fours) had batted splendidly in ideal conditions, India, having put Sri Lanka in, were able to restrict them to 208. On a small ground like the Feroz Shah Kotla, this was a medium-sized target. Vengsarkar was in assertive form, and with Lamba he kept India ahead of the asking-rate.

Man of the Match: A. Ranatunga.
