Second One-day International

†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1986-87

At Gujranwala, November 4. West Indies won on faster scoring-rate. Put in, West Indies collapsed to 67 for five but were again rescued by Dujon, who in 83 minutes with Marshall added 115, a record for the seventh wicket in one-day internationals. His unbeaten 57 contained two sixes and five fours; there were seven fours in Marshall's 66 off 66 balls. Saleem Jaffer, opening the bowling in the absence of Imran Khan with a finger injury, started the collapse by taking three wickets in ten balls. Pakistan themselves slipped to 75 for six, but Miandad and Yousuf looked to be bringing victory into sight when the gathering gloom made the prospect of a finish impossible. West Indies had been bowling their overs at an average of five minutes each, and when it looked as if Pakistan were being denied the chance to win, the crowd began throwing bottles and firecrackers at the West Indian fielders. At this, Richards took his team off. Under the regulations of the series, the maiden overs were discarded in calculating the scoring-rate.

Man of the Match: M. D. Marshall.
