†PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA

At Faisalabad, October 25. Pakistan won by 113 runs. Toss: Pakistan. Salim Malik's first one-day international century, from 85 balls with ten fours, ensured Pakistan of a total which Sri Lanka showed no interest in challenging. With Wasim Akram twice swinging the ball away for six, Ijaz hitting 30 from eighteen balls and Imran scoring 39 off 37 balls, 154 runs came from the last fifteen overs. Sri Lanka's innings, on the other hand, was a pedestrian affair, although there was momentary concern for Pakistan's supporters when Imran pulled up, feeling his ankle, and did not complete his fourth over. Saleem Jaffer was already being rested because of an ankle injury, but Imran's discomfort resulted from nothing more serious than bruising.

Man of the Match: Salim Malik.
