†AUSTRALIA v INDIA 1985-86

At Brisbane, January 12. Australia won by four wickets. Runs were hard to come by on the same pitch on which India and New Zealand had aggregated 522 runs in 98 overs on the previous day. India, put in, were restrained after a disastrous start - the result of their openers' excesses - by accurate bowling from Australia's seam attack. They were only 113 for eight with sixteen overs left, but Chetan Sharma and Kirmani kept them in the match. Australia made heavy weather of their task. A series of poor strokes reduced them from 20 without loss to 48 for five in 64 balls before Matthews and Waugh put the innings on an even keel.

Man of the Match: G. R. J. Matthews. Attendance: 21,145.
