At Lahore, October 25. Pakistan won by five wickets. A crowd of some 40,000 saw Miandad win the toss and put Sri Lanka in to bat. Madugalle, whose partnership of 93 with Ranatunga steadied the innings, hit four 6s and three 4s in his highest score in a one-day international. With Miandad in delightful form, Pakistan kept in touch with the asking-rate of 6 an over and won with nine balls to spare.
