†PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1985-86

At Gujranwala, October 23. Pakistan won by 15 runs. Mendis put Pakistan in on a lively wicket and was rewarded with three wickets falling for 68 runs. However, Zaheer entered to build the innings, first with Ramiz and then, when Ramiz was out in the 22nd over, with Salim Malik for the next eighteen overs. Helped by De Silva's fine 86, the Sri Lankans appeared well set to reach their target, but accurate bowling by Mudassar and Tahir, plus three run-outs at crucial stages, arrested their advance.

Man of the Match: P. A. de Silva.
