†NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN 1984-85

At Napier, January 12. New Zealand won by 110 runs. Restored to the New Zealand captaincy after not being available for the Pakistan tour, Howarth was dropped off the first ball of the match and went on to make 68. New Zealand scored swiftly against sluggish fielding. Pakistan began miserably and Howarth kept a tight grip on the game. Only Miandad really battled it out.
